As a Navy family.

I can't believe that Gary's 20 years are almost up. It seems like just a couple of years ago he came to see me and asked me what I though of him joining the Navy. I told him I would think he was crazy haha. He looked at me sort of puzzled. I looked at him and said there is no Navy in NC lol (there actually are but not a lot). He just smiled and said exactly, you always wanted to get out of here. That statement I could agree with. I had always talked about moving as long as I could remember. After some time of talking, I had told him I would follow him any where but California. Growing up in NC you always thought CA would fall off due to an earthquake lol.
And where would his first assignment be after boot camp? San Diego California! Ha And I followed him. I miss the hustle and bustle with everything open all the time etc... but I do not miss the cost of living there. I also think because it was our first "home" it will hold a special place in us.

Since then we have gone on to Charleston, SC, Norfolk, Va, Corpus Christi, TX, back to Norfolk and now to Naples, Italy.

It is hard to believe that we are so close to retirement. Gary will officially be retired on September 1st, 2014. Who knows what the future holds for us. He is working on getting his resume finished and out to companies that interest him. We are praying that he has a confirmed job before we leave Italy. We are hoping that will take place in  just 6 short months. OUCH!

The Navy has been great to us for the most part and we are grateful for the adventure and opportunities that it has brought to our family. There are only so many people who can say that they have lived in Europe for 3 years, or seen the fireworks in Naples on New Years Eve etc... We have been blessed to be able to have see many part of the US and Europe, Gary saw much of Asia and the Persian Gulf his first 4 years as well, still a little jealous about that lol. If it wasn't for knowing there was a steady paycheck (granted there were times that paycheck didn't come because someone didn't do their job) coming every month, I highly doubt we would have been able to go to Hawaii, Alaska, Cancun, Bahamas, Scotland, Ireland, England, Iceland, Germany, Brussels, Switzerland, France, Norway, Sweden, Denmark and the Faroe Islands. And I am sure I am missing several there, but you get the idea.

So as we plan to start a new chapter in our lives we have a lot of changes coming. Yes he will have his retirement check (yeah they suck you in with the benefits lol but in the end they don't go as far as you think at 18 haha) but there is no way 5 people will be able to survive on that. We have no clue where we will be living, we know we will visit family for a week or 2 in NC after outprocessing somewhere in the states. We can choose & are debating between, VA, FL and TX. So we have to find a job for Gary, I have to start marketing to what ever area that may be in haha and maybe finding a job until the business takes off again. We have to set up the homeschooling to that states laws. We have 2 kids that will be getting permits as soon as we are back and the third will be right behind them in 2015. Can we saw ouch on insurance haha? We need to decide what state we will be having our new car delivered to (job may be a factor) etc....

So it looks like the next 9 months will be crazy busy for us and we still haven't seen all of Italy that we wanted to see and certainly not all of Europe.

Too many decisions to little time..........

And so far I am keeping up with my goals for the most part. I spent most of the day with gary and the kids. I have only been on Facebook for less than an hour and most of it was photography related. Granted it was running in the background while I was in an online class I was watching the class instead of playing and posting haha.
I have a couple of photos to post from New Years Eve. The bash here in Naples wan't as big as it was last year but still nice none the less. We enjoyed roasting marshmallows and hot dogs over the fire pit. Gary and I toasted with wine, the kids with sparkling grape juice even though they can legally drink here.

I hope 2013 is as good as 2012 if not even better.
My family and I had the opportunity to explore several parts of Europe in 2012. We went to several places in Ireland, London, Brussels, Luzerne and Geneva, Switzerland, Lake Como and Venice, Italy, Evian, France, Garmisch and Munich, Germany. We even got to white water raft in Austria how cool is that? I even had the opportunity to attend two photography workshops this past year. One was Master Class Italy (http://photographeveryone.com/italy-2012/) with David Ziser and Clay Blackmoore. I learned a lot and met some wonderful people and even walked away with some great friends. 2012 Master Class will be held in Budapest, so keep an eye out for the upcoming information on the 2013 class. A week after returning home from Master Class I returned to Edelweiss Lodge and Restort ( http://www.edelweisslodgeandresort.com/home.html) in Garmisch, Germany for a landscape workshop featuring Adama Barker. (www.adambarkerphotography.com) We hope to travel just as much if not more this year. There are plenty of things we still want to see and do in the 18 months that we have left here in Bella Napoli. This blog is for me to post my feelings and thoughts, client sessions, travel images and anything in between. So pull up a seat and stick around, some days you may laugh your butt off and other days you may bawl your eyes out. It is going to be a great 2013!

I want to thank all of my past and present clients for choosing Breezy Cranford Photography, I know you have choices and hope you are as happy as I am that you picked me to be your photographer. I look forward to working with you all more in the new year.
Don't forget about my referral program, you will receive a $25 print credit for each person you send to me and books a session. I am also offering a complimentary print for every client that sends me a testimonial of their experience with me. Word of mouth is the best form of advertising and I would greatly appreciate your help in spreading the word about my business.

* Shoot at least one day a week for myself, could be anything but prefer that it says "Italia". If I do this then I should be able to complete my 52 week photography challenge. I want to upload at least one new image a week here.

* I want to update this blog at least once a week, be it business or personal.

* I want to go wandering 3 times a month locally (Campania and vicinity) but pretty much anywhere that we can do in a day trip and be home in time for bed.

* So with the above I would like to attend some of the Gaeta FFSC events. I find so many of them interesting but something always comes up. But I will make them a priority even if it is just one every other month. That is more than I have done so far.

* I want to get in better shape. I will not say I am going to diet because that never lasts. I do plan to eat healthier and I will start walking. Then I hope to get into a more rigorous routine. Hopefully I can utilize our pool for more than just cooling off in the summer.

* I want to hold a minimum of 25 sessions. I want to be busy enough to keep my talents fresh but I do not want to be so busy that I can't offer great customer Service and products in a timely manner. I want to enjoy our time left here and be able to shoot for me as well.

* I want to spend more time with Gary and the kids. Time is slipping by quickly. It is hard to believe that our oldest is 15 on the 7th of January. It won't be long and they will be out on their own. Gotta enjoy it while we can.

* I want to get more organized in the house, in the business and just life in general. I need this because I swear there is something in the air, water or dirt here that causes you to forget everything. I think all of the trash burning is slowly killing off all of our brain cells haha.

* In 2012 I did a Charity Pet session to help AWL (www.animalswithoutlimits.com). I hope to help them again this year with another Christmas pet session. Once our van is fixed, I plan for the kids and I to go over to the hospice and help the beautiful dogs out there by volunteering our time to feed and clean for them.

* I was reading one of my many photography books and it recommended that I take an art class for inspiration. So I took a couple of Kristen Morse's( http://www.facebook.com/caublestones?ref=ts&fref=ts) classes. She has been so inspiring to me with her painting classes, never did I think I could actually paint. So in 2013 I want to paint at least once a month be it one of her classes or on my own. I know she is leaving soon so most of it will probably be on my own. I hope to get the kids hooked too. You can see Kristen's website at http://www.kristencaublemorse.com/ she is a very talented artisit and I can't wait to see where her talents take her.

* I brought a ton of scrapbooking stuff so I want to start scrapbooking once a month, hopefully I can have at least one of the books finished by the time we leave here.

*I want to be on Facebook less hahaha.

* I want to process images for me and my family at least one day a week. We have been to all of these beautiful places and I have all of these gorgous images that I want to process, and have printed.

* Most of all, I am not going to worry about what people say about me. I am who I am, and those who know me, know that I am a kind person. Well until you make me mad that is. So I plan to let as many of the little things fly right on by in 2013, life is too short for me to worry about the haters.

So what are some of your goals and ambitions for 2013?
